Community Spotlight: The Summit

Running between Clemson and Hardscrabble Roads, The Summit neighborhood communities provide suburban homes minutes away from Columbia attractions, events and shopping.

A collection of smaller neighborhoods featuring many premier homes for sale, The Summit offers four beautiful walking trails through its various parks and ponds. The community also has tennis courts, two pools, a spa and a soccer field. The Summit is ten minutes from I-20 and I-77, allowing for easy traveling to downtown Columbia, Charlotte, Charleston, and I-26.

Less than five minutes from the community, Clemson University’s Sandhill Research & Education Center offers more outdoor activities as well as educational opportunities for Northeast residents to enjoy. From May to November, the REC hosts Sandhill Farmer’s Market featuring local farmers selling products, many of which are organic, such as fresh local produce, meat, fish, eggs, butter, milk, cheese, honey, plants, flowers, shrubs, and baked goods. The Sandhill REC, a 600-acre educational and natural wildlife are, also hosts several festivals, high school track meets, community events and the Sparkleberry County Fair.

The Sandhills branch of the Richland Public Library is located in the Summit. Membership to the library is free to Richland County residents. Members can reserve and check out books, audiobooks, movies, music, and video games and participate in community library events.  The library is also a great place for children to spend time at after school and has computer and download stations for public use.

Doctor and dentist offices as well as law firms and salons are located at the Clemson Road entrance of the Summit. North Springs Elementary School and Summit Parkway Middle School are also situated within the Summit community.
The Summit is minutes away from the Village at Sandhill, a shopping and social center with numerous activities and vendors like Marble Slab Ice Creamery, Belk, Nestlé Toll House Cafe, Anne Taylor Loft, and much more. Regal Sandhill Stadium Cinema 16 boasts an IMAX and RPX theater for your current movie needs.

The Summit residents are zoned for the following award-winning Richland School Disctrict 2 schools: Bridge Creek Elementary, Rice Creek Elementary, North Springs Elementary, Kelly Mill Middle, Summit Parkway Middle, and Ridge View High School.
